Christine Roinson
From
2001 until 2006 I worked as a volunteer to enable the creation of Southend
Credit Union. We obtained funding from the European Social Fund (ESF)
and opened for business in June 2006.
As I am by nature an enthusiast, when I resigned at the first AGM of
Southend Credit Union I took the opportunity of removing myself from
Southend to Birmingham. I spent a term at Fircroft College under a scheme
sponsored by BGOP (Better Government for Older People).
The ESF also funded the Post Graduate Certificate in Managing Creative
Industries, which has been introduced at the School of Entrepreneurship
and Business Southend.
As a result of these experiences I am able to use my enthusiasm for
social and cultural change more effectively. I am present working on
two projects; one small and involving mainly friends and family. The
second is concerned with creating a considered narrative for the people
of Southend Borough and is in an exploratory stage.
"Life is a series of collisions with the future; it is not
a sum of what we have been but what we yearn to be."
Jose Ortega Gasset - Spanish Philosopher
